Motifs/Patterns: This handloom pure silk tissue jamdani saree is woven in a deep purple — a regal, dusky tone that takes on a beautiful golden glaze where the tissue's zari threads catch the light. The interplay between the purple silk and the woven-in metallic thread creates a constantly shifting surface: purple in shadow, gilded where it moves, and a smoky lavender where the sheer fabric layers over skin. It is one of those colours that refuses to be pinned down, revealing new dimensions with every fold and drape.
The saree is designed without a distinct pallu — instead, delicate jamdani butis in silver zari are scattered uniformly across the entire length of the fabric, running from end to end in an all-over pattern. These small, arrow-like motifs are arranged in neat vertical lines, creating a rhythmic, almost graphic texture against the purple tissue ground. The effect is modern and understated yet unmistakably handcrafted.

Special Techniques: Pure silk tissue jamdani is among the most refined needle techniques in the handloom tradition. The tissue base is created by interlacing fine silk yarn with tested zari threads during the weaving process, producing the fabric's characteristic translucent body and golden sheen. This is a yarn-dyed saree — the deep purple colour is dyed into the silk threads before they meet the loom, locking the hue into the fibre's structure so it becomes one with the metallic zari ground rather than sitting on top of it. The jamdani butis are then woven into this tissue base using the supplementary weft needle technique: the artisan uses a hand needle to individually interlace silver zari thread into the ground fabric, placing each tiny motif with deliberate precision as the weaving progresses row by row. Unlike a throw shuttle which carries thread across the full width of the fabric, the needle technique allows the weaver to place motifs at exact positions with minimal thread waste on the reverse — resulting in cleaner, more defined butis on a sheer ground. It is slow, exacting work, and it is this patience that gives each motif its crispness and the saree its quiet, handmade soul.
