In this technique, multiple coloured silk threads are meticulously woven on a handloom to create dense, self-patterned motifs without floats on the back. The weaver works through thousands of throw passes, coordinating design cards and jacquard lifting to bring each motif to life. Unlike regular brocade, Tanchoi relies on weft-patterning, where extra weft threads build the pattern, giving the fabric a smooth finish with no loose threads on the reverse.
