Motifs/Patterns: This saree is a striking play of steel gray, deep black, and burnt orange, three colors that come together like a piece of modern art. The gray and black on the body feel sleek and powerful, while the burnt orange on the pallu adds a bold splash of warmth, like the last glow of sunset against a stormy sky.
What makes this saree truly special is that it is a pure handloom Pochampally Ikkat, but with a beautifully modern take on the traditional ikkat designs you usually see. Pochampally ikkat sarees are known for their detailed geometric and floral patterns, but this one breaks the mold completely. The design is bold, minimal, and graphic, the kind of saree that feels more like a contemporary fashion statement than a heritage textile, while still carrying all the soul of the craft.
This sophistication makes it the perfect saree for high-stakes corporate events, board meetings, award functions, and formal gatherings, while still being comfortable enough for informal evenings and family functions. It speaks of quiet confidence, the kind of saree that turns heads without ever needing to shout.
The body is a stunning steel gray, sleek and refined, with fine black pinstripes running across it like delicate lines drawn on silver. The pinstripes give the body a soft rhythm and a clean, modern character without ever feeling busy. As your eye travels down toward the bottom of the saree, something beautiful happens. The pinstripes slowly give way to the kattam pattern, which then flows seamlessly into the bottom border. This merging of body and border is what makes the design so special. There is no sharp break between the two, just a smooth, graceful transition where the saree quietly shifts from pinstripes to kattam to border. It is a fabulous, fresh take on how a saree can be structured, and it gives this piece its true designer edge.
The pallu is the boldest and most contemporary part of this saree. It opens with broad burnt orange bands woven in pinstripes, framing a deep black panel in the center. Sitting inside that black panel is a single circular ikkat motif in burnt orange, with its signature soft, fuzzy ikkat edges. The motif looks like a quiet orange moon floating in a black sky, simple, striking, and unforgettable. The contrast of the warm orange against the deep black is what gives this pallu its modern, almost art-piece feel.
Border Details: The borders of this saree are designed beautifully and not in a typical way. The top border is a simple, sleek black band finished with a fine deep red edging, like a clean line drawn across the top. The bottom border is where the design gets richer. It carries a broader kattam pattern framed by a black border and the same deep red edging that runs throughout the saree. The red runs vertically along both sides, tying the entire saree together with a thin thread of color.
Special Techniques: This is a pure handloom mulberry silk Pochampally Ikkat saree, woven entirely by hand on a traditional loom in the famous weaving town of Pochampally in Telangana. Ikkat is one of the most technically demanding weaving techniques in the world, and Pochampally ikkat is one of its finest traditions.
Here is what makes ikkat so special. Unlike most sarees where the design is added during or after weaving, in ikkat the design is created on the threads themselves before weaving begins. The weaver first calculates the entire pattern on paper, then takes the silk threads, bundles them, and ties tiny knots in precise spots to resist the dye. The threads are then dyed, dried, untied, and only then placed onto the loom for weaving. When the dyed threads come together on the loom, the pattern slowly emerges thread by thread.
This is why ikkat motifs have those signature soft, fuzzy edges, like the burnt orange circle on the pallu, because the dye pattern naturally feathers slightly when the threads align. Far from being a flaw, that softness is the signature mark of true handloom ikkat and proof that the saree has been made the traditional way.
The mulberry silk used here is one of the finest silks in India, known for its smooth feel, natural sheen, and graceful drape. Combined with the precision of Pochampally ikkat dyeing, the result is a saree where the colors run deep into every thread. The yarn-dyed silk gives the gray, black, and burnt orange their rich, lasting tones, while the contemporary pattern brings this centuries-old craft straight into the modern wardrobe.

We photograph our sarees professionally to show accurate colors. However, slight variations may occur due to screen settings and lighting. The natural handloom process may also create subtle color variations, which add to its authenticity.
