Motifs/Patterns: The body of the saree is in deep maroon silk, adorned with bootis (motifs) woven throughout. There are motifs as pan-shaped as well, delicately placed in gold zari, lending a subtle richness to the fabric without overwhelming its elegance. The bootis are created using the butidar weaving technique, where each motif is inserted separately using extra weft yarns on the handloom. This requires immense precision and skill from the weaver. The silk yarns provide the fabric with a smooth texture and soft sheen, while the motifs elevate it into festive and formal wear.The pallu is the statement highlight of this saree. It showcases intricate zari weaving, crafted in geometric and floral-inspired designs that are characteristic of Maheshwari handloom weaving. The zari threads, often in gold tones, are interlaced with the silk yarns to create a rich, luminous effect. The pallu also ends with delicate tassels (knotted by hand) that enhance the drape and add a touch of artisanal finish. The weaving here is denser than the body, ensuring the pallu stands out prominently when draped.
Border Details: The saree has a contrasting green border with fine zari stripes running along its length. This simple yet elegant detailing is typical of Maheshwari weaving traditions, where the borders are made to be understated yet regal, ensuring the body motifs remain the focal point. The green border not only provides contrast to the deep maroon body but also frames the saree gracefully. The zari lines on the border are achieved through supplementary weft weaving, a traditional handloom technique where extra threads are introduced to create linear patterns.
